Magik Circle has a variety of products and tools to help companies improve the way they use their data, to help them improve the quality of their data and to help them visualise that data in a user-friendly way.

Some examples:

• A manufacturing company in Cambridge asked Magik Circle to help them improve the way their telephone staff dealt with orders. Previously this was a manual, paper-based process which had problems such as orders being mis-transcribed and lost. The items being ordered were technical in nature which meant that staff training costs were significant and the nature of the job meant that turnover was high. Magik Circle put in a user-friendly data driven database to guide the telephone operator through the complex combinations available to them. Orders were input directly into the system and automatically verified against a known set of rules. The orders were then passed directly through to manufacturing and billing. In all, this system saved the company an estimated £20,000 per year.

• A marketing company in Suffolk wanted help in cleaning their databases which came in the form of a series of interlinked Excel spreadsheets. In their existing form it was impossible to visualise the information in a timely manner. We put together a simple user interface to bring together all these disparate data sources, and created one central database with an intuitive user interface. This took us a few days and the client is now using the system actively.

• British Trust for Ornithology, Thetford - a charitable institution dedicated to the research of bird life in the UK and worldwide. We established a web-based system to allow bird watchers across the UK to register sightings of migrating birds. The project is now in its third year and is a great success. They now have a unique research database and have achieved something previously unattainable - market research performed across the entire country - not just a small sample.
